Is there life on Mars? That's what everyone wants to know. But what we know so far is that there's music!
Yungblud 's cover of the intergalactic classic "Life On Mars" by David Bowie was the soundtrack to NASA's most recent landing on the planet yesterday, the 18th.
The musician shared with the BBC 's The One Show how he discovered he would be the soundtrack for the landing. “I love space, so I’m here for that. I remember my 23-year-old manager calling me, and it was late because he’s in LA [Los Angeles] and it must have been midnight because I’d had a few beers, so I was already kind of more there than here.”
“And he says, ‘Hey, I just got off the phone with NASA.’ And I replied, ‘Okay, cool, what’s it about? Are you leaving me to be an astronaut?’,” he recalls. “And he said, ‘No, you idiot, it’s about you! If the Mars spacecraft lands successfully, they’re going to play your cover of your all-time favorite artist, David Bowie.’ I was like, ‘What the heck, man,’ that sounds like someone’s completely crazy telling a nuts story (…) Someone needs to hit me to wake me up.”
